September 22, 2012 by Fritzie

I headed to Price Cutter today to take advantage of their 1-Day Sale this week and to see what other deals I could find. I didn’t run across anything else too spectacular in the store that wasn’t in the ad, but I was really happy with my shopping trip today and was glad everything was well stocked for the sale. You could tell where the hot deals were throughout the deal, there were crowds of people in the aisle all clumped up in the same spot where the 1-day sale items were.

  • Maxwell House Wake Up Roast Coffee (30.65 oz.) – $3.99
  • 5 Best Choice Macaroni & Cheese (Original, 7.25 oz.) – $0.19 ea.

  • 6 Land O Frost Deli Shaved Lunchmeat (9 oz.) – $1.50 ea., This was my favorite deal of this trip. There were 4 or 5 different varieties (Chicken, Beef, Smoked Ham & Black Forest Ham were all fully stocked) & most of them all had $0.55/1 peelies on them, nice!

September 14, 2012 by Fritzie

It was time to renew my driver license, so I headed out in the rain this morning to take care of that fun little errand (ha!) and was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t have to wait that long. The most traumatizing thing about the whole thing was getting my picture taken. LOL 😉 Anyway, I’m good for another 6 years now, woot! After that little adventure, I ran to Aldi to stock up on produce & boy did I! I got all sorts of fresh goodies, I was really happy with their selection today. And I love that they have the cheapest produce deals in our area by far (in my experience anyway). I noticed their Chicken legs & thighs have gone back up to $1.19 lb., but I also spotted a pack of thighs with a $2.00 off sticker which made for a really great deal. While I was there, I also decided to take a chance & get one of their Slow Cookers today. I had a smaller one (different brand) which recently died and I had been wanting a bigger one to make soups & roasts in. While I’ve never purchased their Crofton brand before, I’ve been happy with everything else I’ve gotten at Aldi, so I thought I’d give this one a try. And with my birthday coming up this weekend, I kinda made this my birthday present to me. 🙂

  • Crofton 7 Quart Slow Cooker – $19.99
  •  Chicken Thighs – Reg. $1.19 lb., the pack was $5.13, but it had a $2.00 off stick, so only $3.13 after the discount!
  •  2 packages Broccoli Crowns (16 oz. ea.) – $0.99 ea.
  •  Skim Milk (gallon) – $2.81
  •  Eggs (dozen ) – $1.31
  •  3 Avocados – $0.29 ea.
  •  2 Cauliflower – $0.99 ea.
  •  Green Cabbage – $1.29 (Just out of curiosity, I have a scale, so I weighed this when I got home. It was approx. 45 oz., so about $0.45 a lb.)
  •  Red Onions (2 lb. bag) – $1.69
  •  Celery – $1.19
  •  Cheese Singles – $0.99
  •  Final Cost $39.63

August 27, 2012 by Fritzie

I was out & about this weekend and stopped in at several stores to pick up a few things and here is my Target Shopping Trip. I hadn’t been to Target in quite a long time, it’s completely on the other side of town for me, so I generally don’t go unless I have at least a couple more trips in that direction. Plus, as hot as it’s been this summer I simply haven’t been getting out nearly as much these last couple months. I’ll probably be going more often now, especially since Dollar Tree (which just started accepting coupons ) is right around the corner. A lot of what I was looking for was out of stock, but not surprising considering I was shopping on a Sunday which is usually pretty picked over by then. No worries, though, I still found plenty of great deals. 🙂

  • 2 International Delight Coffee Creamer products (32 oz.) – $1.79 ea., Used 2 $1.50/1 International Delight Creamer coupon (Still Available!). Note: There’s also a $0.55/1 Target coupon in the 7/22 RP insert, I didn’t get that one, but was more than happy to pay $0.29 ea. for these, I’m having the Almond Joy variety with my coffee right now, boy, is it yummy!
  • 2 Diet Dr. Pepper (2 liter) – $1.00, Used 2 $0.55/1 Dr. Pepper 2 liter Target coupons
  • 2 Up&Up Cotton Balls (100 ct.) – $0.99 ea., Used 2 $0.50/1 Up&Up Cotton Care item Target coupons
  • 2 Up&Up Facial Tissue (100 ct.) – $0.99, Used 2 $0.50/1 Up&Up Facial Tissue Target coupons
  • 2 Ortega Taco Seasoning – $0.69, Used $1.00/2 Ortega products All You Magazine, August issue
  • 4 Papermate Eagle Pens (10 ct.) – $1.00 ea., Used 4 $1.00/1 Target couons (no longer available)
  • 3 RoseArt Crayons – $0.25 ea, School Glue (4 oz.) – $0.32 & 2 Colored Pencils (12 pk.) – $0.52 ea., Used 2 $1.00/3 RoseArt printable coupon (no longer available, but some areas got this coupon in their 7/29 RP insert)
  • Birds Eye Voila 3 Cheese Chicken – $3.99, Used previous $3.00/1 Birds Eye Voila printable coupon (John & I had a nice lunch with this when I got back from my shopping trip)
  • Final Cost $5.22 (plus I had a Target Gift Card from a previous trip, so I spent ZERO out of pocket) ♥

My Dollar Tree Shopping Trip with Coupons

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

August 26, 2012 by Fritzie

Since today was the first day Dollar Tree started accepting coupons, I stopped in to check it out for myself. The store was pretty wiped out of stock, but I still noticed several deals when I took a look around and I took a whole bunch of pictures which I’ll be posting along with coupon matchups tomorrow. I didn’t buy a whole lot, I just kind of wanted to see how familiar the cashiers were with the coupons at this point. I also snagged a few Kansas City Star Newspapers since they’re only $1.00 there and the Star was WAY more coupons in it than the Globe. When I checked out, I told the cashier I had coupons and I kid you not, she said “Oh No!” and had this look of just utter horror on her face. She put the few through that I had and called another cashier over and said “These coupons are all for $1.00, can I accept these since it will make the products free?” The other cashier said, yes it was fine that the items were free after the coupons as long as they met the requirements noted on the coupons (size, etc.), they just couldn’t take any Free product coupons where an amount had to be written on the coupon.

I’m mentioning this, because there will be a learning curve for everyone on this new coupon policy and some Dollar Tree employees will simply have a better grasp or more knowledge of the coupon policy than others. Especially since this is brand new for everyone, I highly encourage you to print the coupon policy and take it along with you so you’ll have it with you when you need it. So, anyway, here was my Dollar Tree Shopping trip today:

  • 4 Kansas City Star Newspapers – $1.00 ea.
  • Speed Stick Deodorant (1.7 oz.) – $1.00, Used $1.00/1 Speed Stick (excluded 2.0, 1.4 or 0.5 oz. sizes) 8/12 SS insert
  • 3 Nescafe Taster’s Choice Coffee Stick Packs (6 ct.) – $1.00 ea., Used 3 $1.00/1 Nescafe Taster’s Choice Coffee, any size home mailer coupon
  • Final Cost $4.69

Did you go to the Dollar Tree? What kind of deals did you snag?

My Walgreens Shopping Trip – A Hot Mess & Eventual Success

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

August 26, 2012 by Fritzie

So, I would have to say that my Walgreens shopping trip today was a bit of a mess but it eventually, with persistence, worked out. I headed out bright & early this morning to shop at a few places including Walgreens. The first Walgreens I stopped in was already completely wiped out of Kraft products, so I had to settle for one purchase there. I was a bit disappointed that they were already out of stock of several items since I showed up about 10 minutes after they opened their doors, but, hey, that’s Walgreens for ya. 😉 After that, I headed to Dollar Tree to check out what products they had. I’ll be sharing my shopping trip from there in a bit. And I took a BUNCH of pictures of what they carry, so I’ll be sharing that tonight or tomorrow too. 🙂

Anyway, after Dollar Tree and a couple other stops, I stopped in at another Walgreens. I found everything I was looking for in stock and I soon found out why. I had planned on doing 2 transactions. I did the first one without any issues and then I hit a snag. The Kraft Dressing was ringing up at $3.99, not 2/$4.00 like advertised online. I talked to the manager and he checked online, but said he didn’t see it and left it at that and pretty much walked away from the conversation with no resolution. Then I started second guessing myself wondering if I was correct and I let it go and left without making the rest of my purchase. The more I thought about it on my way home, the more sure I was that I was correct, so as soon as I hit the door, I checked the Walgreens ad online and sure enough, it was there. I called the manager told him where the correct pricing was online, he confirmed it and, so long story short, I dashed back to the store and made my purchase. Normally I wouldn’t have messed with going back, but at that point, it felt like a well-deserved victory to come home with the items I wanted in hand. LOL Anyway, my advice to you is if you run across this problem, direct them to the ad online (while you’re still in the store unlike what I did) so the store can then manually key in the correct price. Whew! I hope you have better luck that I did and I also hope I have a more successful adventure when I go back on Wednesday to take advantage of a few more Walgreens Deals along with the Friends & Family 15-20% Off coupon. So, here’s my transactions from today:

Store #1:

  • ZenTrip Motion Sickness Prevention Thinstrips (8 pk.) – $3.00, got back $3.00 RR
  • Used $3.00 RR from previous trip
  • Final Cost FREE

Store #2, Transaction #1:

  • Crest Pro-Health Toothpaste – $3.50, Used $0.75/1 7/29 P&G insert, got back $2.50 RR
  •  Spiderman Cup on Clearance – $0.44
  •  Used $3.00 RR from previous trip
  •  Final Cost $0.19

After discusssion, turned around came back and did Transaction #2:

  • Bought 2 Velveeta Shells & Cheese Dinners – $2.00 ea.
  • & 2 Kraft Miracle Whip or Mayo – $3.00 ea.
  • & 4 Kraft Dressings – $2.00 ea. (manually keyed in at the correct price)
  • & 2 Planters Nutrition Nuts – $4.49 ea.
  • Used 2 $1.00/1 Velveeta Shells & Cheese Dinner Printable Coupon
  • AND Use $1/2 Velveeta Shells & Cheese Dinner Walgreens Store coupon from the September coupon book
  • 2 $1.00/1 Kraft Miracle Whip or Mayo Printable coupon
  • $1/2 Kraft Miracle Whip or Mayo Walgreens Store coupon from September coupon book
  • 2 $1.00/2 Kraft Dressing printable coupon
  • AND Use $1/2 Kraft Dressing Walgreens Store coupon from September coupon book (will take off $1.00 2x) NOTE: I was so focused on the sales ad with the wording “Kraft Dressing” that I totally failed to notice this coupon said “Zesty Italian Dressing”, my mistake on that one, had I noticed this, I would have only purchased the Italian.  And, yes, all of the Dressings were ringing up at $3.99 including the Zesty Italian.
  • 2 $1.00/1 Planters Nutrition printable coupon or 6/24 or 5/20 SS insert
  • AND Use $1/2 Planters Nutrition Walgreens Store coupon from September coupon book
  • 2 Altoids, Used $1.00/2 Walgreens coupon from September coupon book
