Aldi Easter Markdowns

Head’s up! I was at my Aldi store today and I noticed they had marked their Easter Candy and various Toys down 50% off. They had a nice selection of Toys when I was there including Barbie Dolls marked down to $4.99 and various other toys.

They had nice buys on candy as well including 6 packs of Reese’s Eggs for $1.49, Jelly Beans for $0.39, 4 packs of Cadbury Eggs for $1.29 and lots more goodies. The best deals will probably sell out fairly quickly, so if you’re out & about, you may want to stop in at your local Aldi sooner rather than later. 😉 Keep in mind that selection and markdowns can vary by region.

They even had the 3 lb bags of Sweet Potatoes marked down to just $0.29, wow! I mainly went to pick another smoked ham at $0.99 lb, but darnit, they had sold out a week ago and they said they aren’t getting anymore in. Oh well, there will always be another deal.

Here’s what I picked up at Aldi today while I was there:

2 Large Celery stalks – $0.69 each

Refried Beans – $0.79
2 Macaroni & Cheese – $0.39 each
Truffle Easter Eggs – was $2.99, marked down to $1.49
Mars Spring Mini Mix – was $2.99, marked down to $1.49
Table Salt – $0.39

Final Cost $11.83

I wanted to mention that if you shop at Sam’s Club, keep an eye out for markdowns there too. At my Sam’s Club when they have markdowns, they tend to put them on carts at the front of the aisles (like pictured above). A couple trips ago, for example, I picked up a nice markdown on Crest Mouthwash Rinse. This trip I spotted the big boxes of Gain Laundry Detergent, Powder for $10.00 (great buy for such a huge box!)

sams freeosk

Another thing to keep an eye out for at Sam’s Club is their new “Freeosk.” It looks like a vending machine and when you scan your card, it dispenses a free sample, how fun is that?! Our Freeosk is at the front of the store when you first walk in. Today was the first time that I caught it while it still had free samples in stock. Today’s freebie was a Double Dark Chocolate ZonePerfect Bar.

And here’s what I picked up at Sam’s today:

Rotisserie Chicken – $4.88
Romaine Lettuce 6 pk – $3.78
Mario Queen Olives 2 pk, 21 oz each – $6.98
Baker’s Chef Cottage Cheese 5 lb – $7.88
Gallon Milk – $3.22
2 Free ZonePerfect Bars (from the Freeosk, John & I both got one since we each have a card)
Final Cost $28.22

price cutter shopping trips

Here are my Aldi and Price Cutter shopping trips from yesterday. I was finally able to find some decent fresh produce deals at Aldi. The last couple of times I have gone, I had just totally struck out. Maybe it’s the time of year or ? but the produce just hasn’t been looking that spectacular at any of the stores I’ve been to lately (not just Aldi). I was seriously scraping the bottom of the barrel at my house and I was starting to feel deprived! LOL I’ve gotten used to an abundance of various fresh veggies, so I sure can tell when I’m running low. I am thinking it is great time to start experimenting with various squash recipes right now, that’s something I’ve been wanting to do for awhile now. I was also happy to discover that Aldi started stocking their hams again, which we really like, they run anywhere from $0.99 to $1.49 lb. At Price Cutter, I didn’t run across any meat markdowns this time, but still picked up some great buys. Anyway, here are the deals:

Aldi Shopping Trip:

  • 2 packs of Green Bell Peppers 3 ct – $1.29 each
  • Cabbage – $0.99
  • Carrots 2 lbs – $0.99
  • Pinto Beans 32 oz – $1.79
  • Appleton Farm Shank Ham – $9.60 ($0.99 per lb)
  • Vine Tomatoes 24 oz – $0.99
  • Baby Portabella Mushrooms 8 oz – $0.99
  • Yellow Onions 3 lb bag – $0.79
  • Final Cost $19.62

My Walgreens Shopping Trip – A Hot Mess & Eventual Success

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

August 26, 2012 by Fritzie

So, I would have to say that my Walgreens shopping trip today was a bit of a mess but it eventually, with persistence, worked out. I headed out bright & early this morning to shop at a few places including Walgreens. The first Walgreens I stopped in was already completely wiped out of Kraft products, so I had to settle for one purchase there. I was a bit disappointed that they were already out of stock of several items since I showed up about 10 minutes after they opened their doors, but, hey, that’s Walgreens for ya. 😉 After that, I headed to Dollar Tree to check out what products they had. I’ll be sharing my shopping trip from there in a bit. And I took a BUNCH of pictures of what they carry, so I’ll be sharing that tonight or tomorrow too. 🙂

Anyway, after Dollar Tree and a couple other stops, I stopped in at another Walgreens. I found everything I was looking for in stock and I soon found out why. I had planned on doing 2 transactions. I did the first one without any issues and then I hit a snag. The Kraft Dressing was ringing up at $3.99, not 2/$4.00 like advertised online. I talked to the manager and he checked online, but said he didn’t see it and left it at that and pretty much walked away from the conversation with no resolution. Then I started second guessing myself wondering if I was correct and I let it go and left without making the rest of my purchase. The more I thought about it on my way home, the more sure I was that I was correct, so as soon as I hit the door, I checked the Walgreens ad online and sure enough, it was there. I called the manager told him where the correct pricing was online, he confirmed it and, so long story short, I dashed back to the store and made my purchase. Normally I wouldn’t have messed with going back, but at that point, it felt like a well-deserved victory to come home with the items I wanted in hand. LOL Anyway, my advice to you is if you run across this problem, direct them to the ad online (while you’re still in the store unlike what I did) so the store can then manually key in the correct price. Whew! I hope you have better luck that I did and I also hope I have a more successful adventure when I go back on Wednesday to take advantage of a few more Walgreens Deals along with the Friends & Family 15-20% Off coupon. So, here’s my transactions from today:

Store #1:

  • ZenTrip Motion Sickness Prevention Thinstrips (8 pk.) – $3.00, got back $3.00 RR
  • Used $3.00 RR from previous trip
  • Final Cost FREE

Store #2, Transaction #1:

  •  Spiderman Cup on Clearance – $0.44
  •  Used $3.00 RR from previous trip
  •  Final Cost $0.19

After discusssion, turned around came back and did Transaction #2:

  • Bought 2 Velveeta Shells & Cheese Dinners – $2.00 ea.
  • & 2 Kraft Miracle Whip or Mayo – $3.00 ea.
  • & 4 Kraft Dressings – $2.00 ea. (manually keyed in at the correct price)
  • & 2 Planters Nutrition Nuts – $4.49 ea.
  • Used 2 $1.00/1 Velveeta Shells & Cheese Dinner Printable Coupon

  • AND Use $1/2 Kraft Dressing Walgreens Store coupon from September coupon book (will take off $1.00 2x) NOTE: I was so focused on the sales ad with the wording “Kraft Dressing” that I totally failed to notice this coupon said “Zesty Italian Dressing”, my mistake on that one, had I noticed this, I would have only purchased the Italian.  And, yes, all of the Dressings were ringing up at $3.99 including the Zesty Italian.
  • 2 $1.00/1 Planters Nutrition printable coupon or 6/24 or 5/20 SS insert
  • AND Use $1/2 Planters Nutrition Walgreens Store coupon from September coupon book

My Price Cutter It’s too Hot to Shop Ice Cream Trip

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

May 28, 2012 by Fritzie

So, by the time I had gotten my errands done Saturday morning, including a Walmart shopping trip, it was getting unbearably muggy out, so once I was in Price Cutter, I didn’t stay long. I checked for any markdowns in meat, didn’t see any, so I grabbed a bag of chips, headed to the frozen aisle, picked up my goodies and got the heck out of the store and back home. We haven’t been running our air conditioning yet, it just seems way too early to crank it on and we’re not looking forward to the extra expense, so we’re holding out as long as possible. Needless to say, once I got back home and put everything up, the first thing I did was sit in front of a fan & enjoy a nice, cold, frosty bowl of ice cream! 🙂

  • Lay’s Kettle Cooked Chips – $1.99
  • 2 Hiland Family Pak Ice Cream (56 oz.) – $1.50 ea., Used 2 $0.45/1 coupons HERE (doubled)
  • 2 Cool Whip (8 oz.) – $0.99, Used 2 $0.50/1 HERE (doubled, cashier adjusted them to $0.99)
  • Final Cost $3.44
