I was finally able to get out and do a little shopping yesterday evening (yes, that was my exciting Friday night lol) and I started off at Walgreens only to find it completely wiped out of all the deals. Not surprising, considering it was near the end of the week. I guess if I’m going to snag any deals there, I better shop there very early in the week. ;) Anyway, I ventured off to Dillons and was happy to find it fully stocked, so I was able to get everything I came for and even picked up a few unexpected deals! Note: All Mega Event items below are priced after the discount.

My Walmart Deals 3/12 & Experience with the New Coupon Policy

Saturday, 12 March 2011, 17:33 | Category : My Store Deals, Walmart
Tags : ,

I’ve been really anxious to try out Walmart’s new coupon policy and I was able to try out two different stores with varying results. Personally, I have almost always had trouble using coupons at Walmart in the past so I cut way down on my shopping trips there. But I was excited about the changes in their coupon policy and was more than happy to give them another shot. ;) I haven’t had a chance to try and use Walgreens Register Rewards tat Walmart yet, but I’ll report back when I do. Anybody else had any recent Walmart experiences? Feel free to share. :)

Store #1

  • 2 Avery Greeting Card Kits $6.22 ea., used 2 $5.00/1 coupons from HERE
  • Great Day Omega 3 Eggs Large Dozen $1.72, Used $1.00/1 coupon from HERE (cashier said coupon was photocopied and couldn’t take it, I pointed out the coding on the coupon that proved it wasn’t and he then accepted it)
  • Farmland Spiral Sliced Ham Chunks $1.98 lb, $4.22, Used $1.00/1 Farmland any product home mailer coupon from HERE (he also said he couldn’t take this coupon because it also looked photocopied?!?!? Um, it was mailed directly from the company, clearly a legit coupon, I’m still scratching my head over that one lol. I told him to feel free to check with the manager and he then took the coupon)
  • 8 Purex 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets $0.97 ea., Used 8 $3.00/1 Purex Complete with Zout Detergent Or 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets, Any coupons from the 2/20 RP insert (Now, he didn’t bat an eye over these coupons, he scanned them all through with no issues)
  • SS Mix $2.88 (not pictured)
  • 2 Sierra Mist 2 Liters $1.00 ea.
  • Mt. Olive Hamburger Dill Pickle Chips 46 oz. $2.42, Used $0.75/1 Mt. Olive Pickles, Peppers or Relish Product, any coupon form the 1/30 SS insert

I pointed out the coupon said good on any size and she went over and asked her supervisor & the supervisor also said no. I asked her to come over, she did and I said that it was good on any size and she said they couldn’t take it anyway because the items were only $0.97 and the coupon was $3.00. At that point, I whipped out the new coupon policy (which she didn’t bother to even glance at) and she had the store manager come over. He said yes, the coupons were fine because they were good on any size. And then he looked at them both and said that they should both have copies of the new coupon policy at their stations and that they should review the policy again. Thank you, my thoughts exactly! :)  )
  • Final Cost $1.52

My Walgreens Deals 2/25 (75% Off Toy Clearance)

I had a few Register Rewards that I had accumulated from the Neuragen monthly deal and they all expired on the same day. So, I was kind of aimlessly wandering Walgreens’ store aisles when I ran across the most wonderful Clearance Sale! This was a great find for me, because I seem to have really bad timing with these sales, I rarely run across them in time before they are sold out. They had quite a large section of Toys & Gifts all 75% Off. These kinds of sales are great to stockpile for gifts or to give away to worthy causes.

  • 4 Cabbage Patch Dolls, On Clearance $2.49 ea. (all clearance items marked down 75% off)
  • Kid’s Table, Clearance $3.79
  • Memory Foam Slippers, Clearance $3.49

My Target Deals 2/23 & 2/25 (Lots of Freebies!)

Saturday, 26 February 2011, 12:06 | Category : My Store Deals, Target
Tags : ,

So, I haven’t been going to Target very much the past few months simply because I just hadn’t been having a whole lot of luck there. I only have one Target in my area & the last few times I went, prices were ringing up wrong at checkout, the coupons weren’t coming off correctly and stock was always wiped out. Well, with all the good deals going on this week, especially the Frozen Food Deal I gave it another try earlier this week. I was very happy this time with my trip, everything went very smoothly! • Final Cost $12.09 & Got back $5.00 Target Gift Card

UPDATE: Trip Two on 2/25

So I couldn’t resist making another trip to Target this week will all the great deals going on this week. The entire frozen foods section was still wiped out, so I didn’t snag any deals there, but I still snagged some really awesome deals.

  • 4 Up&Up Ibuprofen 24 ct. $0.97, Used 4 $1.00/1 Up&Up Pain Relief Target coupons HERE (printed from more than one computer, auto-adjusted to $0.97 ea.)

My Dillons Deals 2/11 (All for $6.48!)

Sunday, 13 February 2011, 15:47 | Category : Dillons, My Store Deals
Tags : ,

So, my last trip to Dillons was very informative. My store is now auto-adjusting coupons so that there is no longer any overage with coupons (my store is in Southwest Missouri). For example, before, if I bought lunchmeat on sale for $0.88 and had a $0.75 coupon, the coupon would automatically double to $1.00. Now, on this last trip, the coupons are adjusting so as not to allow the overage. Has anyone else noticed this in their recent Dillons trips? Here’s a breakdown of my transaction:

  • 2 Kettle Chips 9 oz. (big bags), Marked down to $1.79 ea., Used $1.00/2 IP (no longer available, there’s also a $1.00/1 coupon from the 1/30 RP insert, but I didn’t have any of those)
  • 2 Garden of Eatin’ Chips, Marked down to $1.19, Used 2 $1.00/1 coupons from HERE
  • 2 Oscar Mayer Bologna $0.88 ea., Used 2 $0.75/1 tearpad coupons (see note below)
  • 5 Colgate Toothpaste $0.98 ea., Used 5 $0.75/1 coupons from the 1/9 SS insert (see note below)
  • McCormick Taco Seasoning $0.99, Used $0.75/1 coupon from the 1/2 RP insert (expired 2/6, my Dillons accepts expired coupons up to 2 weeks & see note below)
  • Dillons Milk 2% Half Gallon, Marked down to $1.36
  • 7Up 2 Liter $0.88
  • Dillons Buns $1.00
  • Final Cost $6.48

I took a picture of my receipt so that will hopefully demonstrate a bit better what I’m referring to. As the receipt shows, it didn’t auto-adjust each coupon, but it auto-adjusted at the end of the the receipt with the last few coupons. I know it looks crazy, I scratched my head over it for a few minutes, and I’m not sure how the register comes up with these totals in its computer brain, but the math ads up. It ended up not deducting $0.35 and that’s how much the overage would have been had all the coupons automatically doubled to $1.00. I hope that makes sense! :? Now, while I’m disappointed in this recent change, it certainly won’t prevent me from shopping at Dillons in the future. I mean, where else could I get all that for less than 7 bucks!? The Kettle Chips alone were $3.79 each before they were marked down! Dillons is still my favorite place to grocery shop, it still beats every store in my area hands down when it comes to their sales, markdowns & frequent mega event deals. It’s also the only grocery store in my area that has a shopper’s Card with eCoupons, that has catalina deals, that doubles coupons over $0.50 ($0.55 to $1.00 etc) & that also accepts expired coupons up to 2 weeks (I hope this stays the same & that they don’t make any further changes). I’m curious, where is everybody else’s favorite place to grocery shop? Feel free to leave a comment below, I’d love hear from my readers out there.

Here’s a quick transaction I did a few days ago at Walgreens:

  • Neuragen $14.99, Used $10.00/1 coupon from the Walgreens Diabetes & You Magazine, Winter issue and got back $10.00 RR (this is a monthly RR deal, good through 2/26 & if you don’t see the D&Y magazine at the pharmacy, ask. I went to a Walgreens that didn’t have any out and I asked the pharmacy and they had some behind the counter).
  • Veripur Hand Sanitizer Lotion $3.99, got back $4.00 RR
  • Valentine’s Pencil with topper (isn’t it cute?) ;)
  • Used $9.00 in previous RRs

My Dillons Deals from 1/30 (& a few thoughts about coupons)

Thursday, 3 February 2011, 15:22 | Category : Dillons, My Store Deals
Tags : ,

So I loaded up on groceries at Dillons a few days ago before the big snow storm hit us (we got at least 18 inches, dh is still shoveling us out). There have been tons of great deals at Dillons the last couple weeks & a lot of these deals I got below are still going on this week, so I’ll probably try to get in one more trip at the end of this week when the roads are a bit more clear. I had an issue with a couple coupons on this trip, the cashier wouldn’t accept them and you know what? That’s ok. One of the many things I’ve learned about couponing is that there is always be another deal to be had. Another thing is it’s never worth arguing about. Yes, I do state my case why I feel a coupon should be accepted and when cashier doesn’t feel the same way, I leave it at that. Personally, for me, it’s a golden rule kinda thing. I try my best to treat people the way I would want to be treated and I sure the heck wouldn’t want to be yelled at over coupons. There are simply bigger issues in life to get upset over and coupons are not one of those issues. ;) Through quite a bit of trial & error (and oh yeah, lots of errors on my part, especially when I first started out couponing), I have found that I have the most luck with coupons when I stick to the cashiers I am familiar with. It has also worked much better in my favor when I have a good solid knowledge of how coupons work and how to use them properly. Anyway, enough about that, feel free to chime in with your thoughts on the subject.

My Transaction (all prices are after the Mega Event Discount is taken off):

  • 20 Honest Tea $0.75 ea.*, Used 20 $0.50/1 tearpad coupons (doubles, I had traded for these coupons a couple months ago, first because I really, really love their tea & second, I hoping Mega Event sale would come up, boy, was I happy when it was a part of this sale!)
  • Velveeta $4.49*
  • 5 Rotel $0.49 ea.*, Used$1.00/3 coupon from HERE, B3GO Rotel coupon from All You Magazine, January issue AND $1.00 off wyb Velveeta & 1 Rotel coupon from booklet
  • 3 Hunts Tomatoes $0.49 ea.*, Used $1.00/3 coupon form the 1/23 SS insert
  • 4 Cans Hormel Chili with Beans $0.89 ea.*, Used 2 $0.55/2 coupons HERE (each doubled to $1.00)
  • Hormel Chili Master $0.89 ea*., Used 2 $0.75/1 coupons HERE (each doubled to $1.00)
  • Kroger Gallon Milk 1/2% $2.62
  • Hiland Half Gallon Chocolate Milk $2.99, Used Buy Gallon Milk, Get Half Gallon Chocolate Milk Free up to $3.00 IP coupon (no longer available)
  • Home Pride Bread $2.00
  • 2 I Can’t Believe it’s Not Butter $1.49 ea.*, Used Free Bread up to $2.00 wyb 2 ICBINB products (IP coupon no longer available). I also attempted to use 2 $0.60/1 coupons on the ICBINB, but the cashier wouldn’t accept them since I used the bread coupon. These should have been allowable since I was using the coupons on the butter, not trying to use another coupon on the bread, but it was a no go. Like I said above, it’s ok. Hey, I still got tons of great deals on this trip, so I sure can’t complain about 1 little mishap.
  • 2 Fresh Mushrooms 8 oz., Marked down to $0.99 ea.
  • 3 Bags Kettle Chips $1.29 ea.*, Used $1.00/1 IP coupon & $1.00/2 IP coupon (both no longer available)
  • Kraft Salad Dressing 16 oz. $2.99, Used FREE coupon form home mailer
  • Frank’s Hot Sauce 5 oz. $1.15, Used $0.50/1 coupon (doubled)
  • Final Cost $8.99 and I was very happy with this total considering all the items I purchased, yay! :)

So, a few days ago on Sunday afternoon, I ran around and did a few errands and made a few shopping trips before the huge snow storm hit us on late Monday. Here’s my trip to Walgreens:

My Walgreens Deals 12/10: Christmas Goodies!

Saturday, 11 December 2010, 11:11 | Category : My Store Deals, Walgreens
Tags : ,

I shopped at a couple different Walgreens this week, but my last trip was my favorite trip. While I was at Walgreens yesterday, I ran into someone that reads my blog! It was a pleasure to meet you Tracy & seriously, you made my day! :D I was at the end of my shopping trip for the day, so I did two quick transactions & here’s how they turned out:

Transaction #1

  • 4 Crayola Pop Art Pixies $5.99 ea. (part of the 4 day sale, ends today 12/11), Used 4 $4.00/1 coupons from HERE. Note: You may still be able to print these, Crayola seems to have been periodically resetting these coupons, so if you haven’t had a chance to print these, check back now! Second Note: If you’re into Target, these are actually a better deal there through today 12/11. Buy 2 & Get a $5.00 Gift Card. Price Matching with the Walgreens ad would make them $3.98 total, Get back $5.00 Target Gift Card, a profit of $1.02. Now, having said that, this is very much ymmv. For some people, the Price Matching has worked like a breeze, for other people, their Targets have refused to give them the Gift Card with the Price Match. I personally have not had much luck with Target period in the last few months (and I only have one store to choose from), so I chose to go with Walgreens and use up some Register Rewards I had from previous weeks.
  • 6 Hallmark Tissue Papers 3/$1.00, Used Walgreens 3/$1 in-ad coupon, Got $5.00 RR
  • Used $9.00 in previous RRs
  • Final Cost $0.96, Got back $5.00 RR (Jingle Cash) & $5.00 in Super Jingle Cash

Transaction #2

  • 2 Hallmark Color Studio Wrapping Paper BOGO @ $1.99 Used $0.50/1 Walgreens coupon from HERE (at my store, they rang up $1.99 & 0, so the coupon took off $0.50 1x, not 2x)
  • 5 Hallmark Tissue Papers 3/$1.00, Used Walgreens 3/$1 in-ad coupon, Got back $5.00 RR (for purchasing 6 total Hallmarks, I bought the 5th tissue paper to make the math come out right for the RR I used)
  • Used $3.00 in previous RR
  • Final Cost $0.17 and got back $5.00 RR
UPDATE: The Hallmark wrapping paper & tissue paper is now a dead deal from what I’ve been hearing. :(

My Dillons Deals 12/8: Over 90% Savings!

Whew, I meant to post my Dillons trip a lot earlier, but this week got away from me! And is it just me, or does it seem like Dillons has had way more “Mega Event” Sales this year than in the past? Not that I’m complaining, these sales are really awesome! Anyway, onto my deals (all prices are after the Mega Event Discount):

  • 22 Bumble Bee Albacore Tuna 2.5 oz. pouches $0.49*, Used 23 $0.55/1 from the 9/12 SS insert (doubled) Note: I purchased these coupons months ago hoping another Mega Event would come up (so happy when it did lol). I also want to say BRAVO to my Dillons for knowing in advance what a hot selling item this would be. When I went, they had Bumble Bee pouches everywhere!
