My Price Cutter Shopping Trip This Week (LFTB Free)

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

May 5, 2012 by Fritzie

So, I ran by Price Cutter in Joplin today to take advantage of their One-Day Sale and picked up few things. While I was there, I spoke to the Fresh Meat Department and they assured me that their Ground Beef was indeed LFTB Free (also known as “Pink Slime”). They said they ground their own beef in the store and it does not contain the product. Anyway, that was good to know. Oh, and random act of kindness alert! A lady who was in line in front of me tried to give me her $1.00 catalina she had just gotten for her purchase, but the cashier was too quick and had already rung up my transaction, so I told her to keep it for herself for her next shopping trip. Wasn’t that awesome though?! That was such a sweet thing to do, so thanks! 🙂  Onto my deals:

  • Ground Beef (2 family packs) – $1.99 lb., $8.74 & $8.48 lb., The ad said $2.19 lb., but they were running a manager’s special for $1.99 lb, even better!
  • 2 Williams Taco Seasonings – $0.59 ea., FREE with purchase of Ground Beef family packs
  • Hiland Cottage Cheese (24 oz.) – $2.29, Used $0.50/1 Hiland Cottage Cheese, any 24 oz 3/18 SS insert (doubled)
  • 2 Ortega Guacamole Seasonings – $0.69 ea. Use $0.50/2 Ortega Products, any 4/15 SS insert (doubled)
  • 2 Heads Lettuce – $0.69 ea.
  • 5 Roma Tomatoes – $0.59 lb., $0.61
  • 4 Ranch Beans – $0.59 ea.
  • Final Cost $24.36

My Target Shopping Trip This Week

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

April 29, 2012 by Fritzie

I was running some errands earlier this week and was close to Target, so I dashed in for a quick stop. Since we just have the one Target in our area, our store seems to run out of stock on items in general pretty quickly, so I didn’t find everything I was looking for but I was still able to pick up a few nice deals. 🙂

  • 3 G.E. Reveal CFL Bulbs – On Sale $6.00 ea., Used 3 $1.00/1 coupons . and 3 $2.00/1 Target store coupons (I’ve been eye these bulbs for a long time, but just wasn’t willing to spend the money for them, so I was really happy to snag this deal)
  • 4 Glade Air Freshener Sprays – $0.99 ea., Used 4 $1.00/1 Target store coupons
  • Quilted Northern Bath Tissue (12 double rolls) – $6.49, Used $1.00/1 ip (no longer available) & $1.00/1 Target store coupons
  • 2 Method Dish Soap – $2.69 ea., Used 2 $1.00/1 & 2 $1.00/1 Target store coupons, both no longer available
  • Dozen Egg – $1.99, Used FREE coupon from Fresh Made home mailer
  • 2 Revlon Nail Clippers, $1.97 & 1 Revlon Emory Boards – $1.27, Used 3 $2.00/1 Revlon Tools Target store coupon (no longer available), the coupons each auto-adjusted down
  • Final Cost $16.03

Harps Grand Opening in Joplin, My Deals and Experience

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

April 21, 2012 by Fritzie

So, as some of you may know, a  new grocery store Harps opened up this week in the Joplin area (25685 Fir Road, Joplin, MO, The Village at Airport Drive). We’ve always needed more grocery stores in this area, but since the tornado with the loss of so many businesses, we’ve needed more options now more than ever.  Needless to say, Harp’s Grand Opening created a lot of excitement in the area. I drove up to the store about an hour and a half after they had opened and the parking lot was completely full. And not just full, but cars were parked in the grass and anywhere else they could possibly park!

When I walked in the store, I immediately noticed how bright and open it appeared. I really liked the lay out of the store, everything was pretty easy to find and the store had a very welcoming feel to it. And when I couldn’t find something, there was plenty of staff around to help me find it. There’s nothing more frustrating than wandering around aimlessly looking for one item and then not being able to track down someone to ask for help finding it.

I also liked that they had sale items clearly tagged with a bright pink color, so it made the sales items easier to spot.

Anyway, I didn’t really go to the Grand Opening to shop much, but I did pick up a few things while I was there (naturally!). And I didn’t even have to wait in line to checkout, it was fast and painless which is always a plus.  Here’s what I picked up:

  • Tyson Whole Chicken – $0.69 lb., They were already sold out of these, but they had a man standing in the meat section handing out Rain Checks to anyone that wanted one which made it easy.
  • 5 Dt Mtn Dew (2 liter) – $0.88 ea., I don’t indulge my diet mtn. dew habit very often, but boy, is it fun while it lasts. 😉
  • Vidalia Onions (approx. 5 1/b lbs.) – $0.59 lb., $3.37 total, Used $0.50/1 coupon (doubled), I’m making a French Onion Soup today in my crock pot, yum! 🙂
  • 6 Van Camp’s Pork n Beans – $0.39 ea.
  • Mezzetta Pepperoncini Peppers (16 oz.) – $1.00
  • Hiland Sour Cream & French Onion Dip (16 oz.) – $0.98 ea., Used $0.50/2 Hiland Sour Cream or Dip, any 16-oz 1/22 SS insert (doubled)
  • Pads – $2.75
  • Final Cost $14.30

Headed to Harps? Don’t forget to check out my Weekly Deals Post with coupon matchups, the latest ad is good through 4/24.

Note: This is NOT a sponsored post, I was not paid in any way to write this. I do not work for Harps, nor do I know anybody that works at Harps. I wrote this post simply because I was excited to have a new grocery store in the Joplin area and wanted to share my experience with others!

My Walgreens Shopping Trip 4/18 (No Nasal Ease in sight, but Nice deal on Bath Tissue)

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

April 20, 2012 by Fritzie

So, I stopped in earlier in the week looking for one Nasal Ease (I had one $5.00 coupon that would have made it a $5.00 moneymaker after the Register Reward, but alas, I did not find a single one). I stopped in at two of my Walgreens stores again this week after their trucks came in, but still no luck. While it can be a bummer not to find what you’re looking for, just keep in mind with couponing and shopping in general, there will always be another deal. For me, it was no biggie to stop in at my stores,  I was already out doing errands both times anyway, so it’s not like I was out any extra time or money hunting for one deal. With gas prices being what they are nowadays, I generally plan my trips in advance and keep my outings to a minimum. I have a list in hand of the places I need to go and the order in which I’ll be going. It keeps me a little more sane that way. 😉 Anyway, I did 2 transactions on my latest trip to Walgreens:

Transaction #1:

  • Similasan Nasal Allergy Relief – $6.00, Used $1.50/1 Similasan Product, any 4/1 SS insert, Got back $6.00 RR (I can’t wait to try this one, my allergies have been driving me crazy lately!)
  • Hunt’s Tomato Sauce (8 oz.), $0.33, Used Walgreens in-ad store coupon
  • Used $4.00 RR from previous trip
  • Final Cost $0.88 and got back $6.00 RR

Transaction #2:

  • 2 Nice! Ultra Premium Bath Tissue (12 Double Rolls ea.) – $5.00 ea., Got $2.00 RR (Note: I like this bath tissue a LOT better than the other brand they carry “Real Soft & Strong,” I didn’t care for that one at all, in fact, I hated it. And don’t even get me started on “Tuf” Paper Towels, blech!)
  • Natural Dentist Mouthwash (16.9 oz.) – $6.99, Used $2.00/1 HERE (zipcode 77477) and submitted rebate
  • Used $6.00 RR from transaction above
  • Final Cost $9.68, Got back $2.00 RR and I’ll get $6.99 back for the Rebate

April 19, 2012 by Fritzie

I took a couple of quick trips to Price Cutter this week and was pleasantly surprised by both trips. I found everything I was looking for each time, didn’t have any issues with coupons and the prices actually came up correctly both times at the register. 😉  (I don’t know about the Price Cutter in your area, but mine are both notorious for having the wrong prices ringing up at the register). Anyway, here’s what I snagged:

  • 2 Mio Energy $3.49 ea., Got $1.00 off each one after the Kraft Deal, Used 2 $1.00/1 Mio Energy ip coupons (no longer available), Got back a $1.00 catalina for buying 2
  • 2 Kraft Fresh Take $2.99 ea., Got $1.00 off each one after the Kraft Deal, Used 2 FREE coupons, took off the full value $2.99
  • Philadelphia Cooking Creme $2.99, Got $1.00 off after the Kraft Deal, Used $1.50/1 coupon from Kraft First Taste
