 CVS Black Friday Shopping

Since the CVS in Joplin just opened up here in late September of this year, I just experienced my very first CVS Black Friday Shopping adventure. And I have to say, it was a fun and stress-free trip.

My Latest Shopping Trip Adventures

I ran to the Price Cutter yesterday morning to take advantage of their Kraft B1G1 Sale.. I hit a couple snags along the way, which was not the slightest bit surprising to me. If I ever run into issues, it is almost always at my nearest Price Cutter store. I do love Price Cutter’s sales, their meat markdowns and the fact that they do double coupons. Having said that though, there are a couple things that have bothered me about this store that have NOT changed over the last few years (for me anyway)…

My Walgreens Shopping Trip

I ran over to my nearby Walgreens earlier today to pick up some cheap Hamburger Helper along with a few other items. I was also out of eggs, but fortunately I had a rain-check tucked away for a time such as this. I didn’t see a whole lot in the way of unadvertised deals, but I noticed they did have a toy clearance sale on quite a few toys (50% off), so something to keep an eye out for at your local Walgreens on your next trip. I was happy that everything I was looking for was in stock, even the Almay softies which was a pleasant surprise, I thought the $4.99 eye shadows would have been wiped out a long time ago. Anyway, here are the details of my Walgreens shopping trip today:

Aldi Easter Markdowns

Head’s up! I was at my Aldi store today and I noticed they had marked their Easter Candy and various Toys down 50% off. They had a nice selection of Toys when I was there including Barbie Dolls marked down to $4.99 and various other toys.

aldi easter markdowns

They had nice buys on candy as well including 6 packs of Reese’s Eggs for $1.49, Jelly Beans for $0.39, 4 packs of Cadbury Eggs for $1.29 and lots more goodies. The best deals will probably sell out fairly quickly, so if you’re out & about, you may want to stop in at your local Aldi sooner rather than later. 😉 Keep in mind that selection and markdowns can vary by region.

They even had the 3 lb bags of Sweet Potatoes marked down to just $0.29, wow! I mainly went to pick another smoked ham at $0.99 lb, but darnit, they had sold out a week ago and they said they aren’t getting anymore in. Oh well, there will always be another deal.

Here’s what I picked up at Aldi today while I was there:

2 Large Celery stalks – $0.69 each
2 Saltine Crackers 16 oz – $0.95 each
Radishes 1 lb – $0.99
Refried Beans – $0.79
2 Macaroni & Cheese – $0.39 each
Truffle Easter Eggs – was $2.99, marked down to $1.49
Mars Spring Mini Mix – was $2.99, marked down to $1.49
Table Salt – $0.39
Roma Tomatoes 20 oz – $1.19
Yellow Mustard 20 oz – $0.89
Final Cost $11.83

I wanted to mention that if you shop at Sam’s Club, keep an eye out for markdowns there too. At my Sam’s Club when they have markdowns, they tend to put them on carts at the front of the aisles (like pictured above). A couple trips ago, for example, I picked up a nice markdown on Crest Mouthwash Rinse. This trip I spotted the big boxes of Gain Laundry Detergent, Powder for $10.00 (great buy for such a huge box!)

sams freeosk

Another thing to keep an eye out for at Sam’s Club is their new “Freeosk.” It looks like a vending machine and when you scan your card, it dispenses a free sample, how fun is that?! Our Freeosk is at the front of the store when you first walk in. Today was the first time that I caught it while it still had free samples in stock. Today’s freebie was a Double Dark Chocolate ZonePerfect Bar.

And here’s what I picked up at Sam’s today:

Rotisserie Chicken – $4.88
Romaine Lettuce 6 pk – $3.78
Mario Queen Olives 2 pk, 21 oz each – $6.98
Baker’s Chef Cottage Cheese 5 lb – $7.88
Gallon Milk – $3.22
2 Free ZonePerfect Bars (from the Freeosk, John & I both got one since we each have a card)
Final Cost $28.22

Latest Shopping Trip

So on my latest shopping excursion, I ventured out to Target, Walmart and Price Cutter. My Target was really wiped out so I had to do some major improvising to take advantage of the $10 off Grocery Target coupon that is available this week, but all-in-all, I was happy with my trip. As much as I love the awesomeness of Target, I do find it frustrating that my Target seems to be consistently wiped out of a lot of items every single time I go. I’m not sure why that is, either I have incredibly bad timing no matter what time of the day/week I try to go 😉 or our Joplin Target is just a seriously popular and heavily shopped location. Seriously, I think Joplin could EASILY support two Targets, especially considering the lack of grocery stores in Joplin. Anyway, back on subject (ha!). my walmart shopping trip

Here are the deals I picked up on my latest Walmart Shopping Trip. I did quite a bit of price matching today, especially on produce. I had been striking out lately at Aldi as far as their produce selection goes, so I decided to price match at Walmart instead this week. I went early in the morning and took a little time to wander around the store. I usually do not take the time to just kinda shop around, I usually just run in the store with a very specific list and get out as quickly as possible, so it was nice to browse a bit today. I didn’t find anything other than what I had on my list, but I’m glad I had a chance to meander awhile anyway. I was surprised that Walmart still had some Christmas Clearance items, all 75% Off, I found those items way out in the Garden Section. I didn’t find much else in the way of clearance that was of interest to me, but here’s what I did get on this trip:

  • 4 Dozen Large Eggs – $1.98 each, Price Matched at $0.99 each
  • 6 Avocados – $0.78, Price Matched at $0.29
  • Yellow Onions 3 lb bag – $2.88 each, Price Matched at $0.79 each
  • Fage Greek Yogurt 35.3 oz – $5.98, Used $1/1 Fage Total 35.3 oz Coupon (zipcode 65804), and submitted for $1/1 back from Checkout 51
  • 3 Green Bell Peppers – $0.64 each, Price Matched at $0.50 each
  • Fresh Lime – $0.33, Price Matched at $0.17
  • Tomatoes – $1.24 lb, Price Matched at $0.99 lb
  • Skippy Peanut Butter – $2.98, Price Matched at $1.99, Used $0.50/1 Skippy coupon from the 11/17 SmartSource insert
  • Alouette Cheese Spread – $3.98, Priced Matched at $2.99, Used $1/1 Alouette Coupon (zipcode 10001)
  • 4 Nature Made Magnesium – $2.97 each, Used 4 $5/1 Nature Made coupons (these beeped, but mgmt. came over and keyed them in without any issues)
  • 2 Rice Thins – $2.50 each, Used 2 home mailer coupons previously available
  • Diet 7Up 2 liter – $1.00
  • 2 Crystal Light 12 qt – $2.00 each, Used $1/2 Crystal Light tearpad coupon
  • 2 Old Orchard Wild Cherry Juice 64 oz – $2.08 each, Used 2 $1/1 Old Orchard Juice Coupons
  • Pictsweet Steamables Edamame – $1.98, Submitted for $0.50/1 back from Checkout 51 (purchased separately)
  • Walmart Mouthwash No Alcohol 1 liter – $2.74 (not pictured, already put away lol)

  • Final Cost $26.31

My Latest Target Shopping Trip

target shopping trip

So, on my latest Target shopping trip I picked up some really great buys. I do not shop very often at Target because the only one we have in town is a bit out of my way and I often find the stock really wiped out. I have tried going at numerous different times, but I just have not found that magical time to shop there as of yet. Having said that though, it is usually still well worth my time to go as long as I combine my Target shopping trip with other errands in that direction of town on the same day. There are so many different ways to save money at Target that even if I only find a few of the items on my shopping list, it is still worth the trip.  Anyway, onto the deals I picked up:

  • 2 Angel Soft Bath Tissue 20+4 Double Roll packs – $9.49 each, Used $1.50/1 Angel Soft Target Coupon and $1.50/1 Angel Soft coupon from here (manufacturer’s coupon) and got 20% off from Target Cartwheel
  • Market Pantry Pasta Sauce – $1.00
  • 4 Stove Top Stuffing – $0.99 each, Got 50% off from Target Cartwheel
  • Canada Dry TEN 2 Liter – $0.79, Used $0.75/1 7UP TEN products coupon from the 11/17 SmartSource insert (all the other 7UP TEN products were also on sale for $0.79)
  • Up & Up Cotton Balls 100 ct – $0.97, Used $0.50/1 Up & Up Cotton Cosmetic item Target coupon from here & got 5% off from Target Cartwheel
  • Final Cost $13.95

walmart shopping

Here is my Walmart Shopping Trip. I had several stops to make that day, so this trip while somewhat short, was packed with nice buys. It is immensely helpful that Walmart price matches  and even more helpful that they don’t require the ad. As always, Walmart was jam-packed with people. I swear, I could go at 2am on a weekday and that store would still be slammed with traffic. LOL I let a few people know about the potatoes price match from Aldi while I was picking mine up so hopefully a few people saved a couple bucks. 😉 Anyway, here’s what I picked up:
