Sugar Free Ring Pops: All the Bling without the Sugar!

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

June 30, 2011 by Fritzie

I was contacted awhile back about reviewing a product from Ring Pop, their Sugar Free Ring Pops line. I jumped at the chance because I loved the idea of this fun classic product now being offered in a sugar free version, in Ring Pop’s words “All the Bling without the Sugar!” 🙂 Well, shortly after I received the Sugar Free Ring Pops, the tornado hit here in Joplin and instead of reviewing the ring pops, I gave the 2 bags I had received to a family along with some other goodies, in hopes it would bring much need smiles for the kiddos. Personally, I loved the classic ring pop years ago, it was one of those little carefree simple pleasures in life. The sugar-free version is offered in flavors Blue Raspberry, Watermelon, and Strawberry, which is on a fun plastic ring that stays put on little hands to prevent messes, making Sugar Free Ring Pop an ideal long-lasting sweet for long summer road trips. Plus, the Sugar Free Ring Pop is also fat free, tooth-friendly, and only contains 30 calories per pop! Be sure to “Like” their Facebook page HERE, right now you can anwser a quick 1-Question Quiz on their Facebook wall for a chance to win Ring Pop candy inspired by the new movie Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Note: While I received two bags of the Sugar-Free Ring Pops (which I happily gave away), I was not compensated for this post. As always, opinions are 100% my own.

Cascade Complete All-in-1 ActionPacs Challenge & Review

Cascade Complete All-in-1 ActionPacs Features :

  • Powers Away 24 Hour Stuck-On Food
  • Pre-treating Power
  • Fast Action
  • Rinse Aid Action
  • Grease Fighting Power

Review:
I was tasked with a challenge to make a Blueberry Cobbler, set the empty baking dish out for 24 hours and without rinsing, put it in the dishwasher with Cascade Complete. I have to tell you, I was very skeptical about this challenge. I definitely thought there was no way the white casserole dish I was provide with would completely come clean, especially after 24 hours and no rinsing. And I have to say, it was really hard for me to leave such a dirty dish out for that long. We are a family of immediate rinsers, as soon as we’re done eating, the dishes get rinsed right away. That’s been our habit for years, it works for us. Anyway, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised that it came completely clean. As a matter of fact it was squeaky clean, as were all my other dishes in the dishwasher.

And you can sign up to get a Home Made Simple coupon booklet in the mail with over $30.00 in coupons including Cascade coupons HERE (lower left).

Note: P&G provided me with the Cascade Complete All-in-1 ActionPac Kit & information through MyBlogSpark. As always, my opinions are 100% my own.

Closed! Horizon Organic Lowfat Chocolate Milk with DHA Omega-3 Review & Giveaway

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

February 13, 2010 by Fritzie

Horizon has a new product out and I was given the opportunity to try it out for myself. Horizon’s New Organic lowfat Chocolate Milk with DHA Omega-3 provides a great tasting and easy way to add calcium and DHA to your family’s diet. DHA Omega-3 is an important nutrient that helps support
heart, brain and eye health. DHA belongs to a category of healthy fatty acids known as Omega-3’s. Found in high concentrations in the tissues of the brain and eye, DHA Omega-3 is thought to help support healthy function in these areas. DHA has also been shown to help support heart health. DHA provides a nutritional boost for children’s growing minds and bodies. Children’s brains grow incredibly fast. In fact, the brain nearly quadruples in the first five years of life. DHA is a key structural component of the brain, yet many young children don’t get their recommended daily amount of DHA as it is found in a limited number of food sources. Horizon Organic Milk Plus DHA Omega-3 is fortified with a natural, 100 percent vegetarian and sustainable source of DHA.

  • You can find more information about the new Chocolate Milk HERE
  • Check out the Ingredients and Nutrition Facts HERE
  • Sign up for their newsletter and get access to special offers, coupons and more HERE.
  • Find Horizon on Facebook HERE
  • Locate your nearest Horizon products HERE (I found the Chocolate Milk at my local Target)

So I got to try this out for myself and I have to say I am not a big Chocolate Milk drinker, but this was so good! It was so RICH tasting, I just loved it!!! It has a velveety, creamy texture, not chalky at all like some Chocolate milks I have tried in the past. Another thing I really liked about this milk has that it wasn’t too sweet and it didn’t have that artificial taste that all other Chocolate milks have that I have ever tried. I will absolutely purchase this again, I’m not a regular milk drinker, but I’m sure this one will find it’s way in my refrigerator at least once a month.

Now for the fun part! Two lucky winners will each win 4 total coupons: 2 coupons for a FREE Half Gallon of Horizon’s Chocolate Milk and 2 coupons for $1.00 off a half gallon of Chocolate Milk.

CLOSED-Sound of Music 50th Anniversary Special Edition Original Cast Recording & Pop-Up Book Review & Giveaway

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

November 28, 2009 by Fritzie

I was given the opportunity to review Sony Music’s recently released “50th Anniversary Special Edition of the Original Cast Recording: The Sound Of Music” and Simon & Schuster’s The Sound of Music: A Classic Collectible Pop-Up.

My Favorite Things (my personal favorite), Do-Re-Mi and The Sound of Music are all songs that we grew up with. The Sound of Music first opened on Broadway 50 years ago and quickly became one of the most popular and enduring musicals of all time.  I was delighted to review this because I just love the Sound of Music, it is such a classic story. I even “Story of the Von Trapp Family Singers” book I loved it so much. I thought the Cast Recording was just gorgeous & lush. The sound quality was excellent and a lot better than I thought it would be. The LOVED the Pop-Up book, it is just spectacular with it’s artistry and design and it follows the Broadway version of the Sound of Music perfectly. The Hills really DO come alive in this extraordinary Pop-up. This was Adapted by Bert Fink and Illustrated by Dan Andreasen, they really outdid themselves on this one! This Cast Recording and Pop up Book are both great ways for you to spend time with your kids and help them with their reading skills at the same time. My mother read to me and with me all the time when I was growing up and I know that really helped my skills later in life. Check out this cool Sing-Along guide HERE from Simon & Schuster, it goes along with the book to encourage your child to follow the story with you. This guide is really great idea and enhances the whole Sound of Music experience even more!

More Information:
“While a larger audience came to know The Sound of Music six years later, when the Oscar-winning film version starring Julie Andrews was released, the musical became a major hit of the 1959-1960 season, sharing (with Fiorello!) that spring the Tony Award for Best Musical. It ran 1,443 performances on Broadway, toured the U.S. for several seasons and became an even longer-running hit in London when the first British production (1961) ran twice as long as its Broadway counterpart. It continues to be one of the most popular and enduring musicals of all time.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Broadway premiere of The Sound of Music, Masterworks Broadway has restored the original cast recording in a new edition that features three unusual bonus tracks, extensive liner notes about the show’s history by Bert Fink of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, and rarely seen photos of the recording sessions, held November 22, 1959, in Columbia Records’ celebrated 30th Street Studios.

In addition to the original cast recording, the three bonus tracks on the 50th anniversary edition are:

* “From Switzerland: The Pratt Family,” a spoof of The Sound of Music created for and performed by Julie Andrews and Carol Burnett in 1962 on their TV special Julie and Carol Live at Carnegie Hall;
* A live recording of “Edelweiss,” sung in German, from the historic first production (2005) of The Sound of Music in Vienna;
* A soaring cover version of “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” sung in Swedish (as “Sök dig till bergen”) by Tommy Körberg, best known to American audiences for his vocals on the concept album of Chess.

The Sound of Music: A Classic Collectible Pop Up-More Information & Order on Amazon HERE (there’s a video that really shows off how cool this book is).

Once in a Blue Moon by Eileen Goudge Review

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

October 18, 2009 by Fritzie

I got a chance to read Eileen Goudge’s latest novel Once in a Blue Moon, thanks to One2OneNetwork and let me tell you, it is a smokin’ read!

Description:
Lindsay and Kerrie Ann are sisters who have known hardship from an early age. Without guidance from their neglectful mother, their only aid came from an unlikely source, a retired exotic dancer by the name of Miss Honi Love. When the girls’ mother was sent to prison, Miss Honi tried unsuccessfully to save them from being separated and sent into foster care.

Thirty years later, Lindsay is still trying to reconnect with her sister. The owner of a bookstore in the sleepy California seaside town of Blue Moon Bay, she was lucky enough to have been adopted by a loving couple. Unbeknownst to her, Kerrie Ann has suffered a very different life. Bounced from one foster home to the next, she ran away as a teenager before becoming a drug-addicted single mother. Now, newly sober, Kerrie Ann is fighting to regain custody of the little girl who was taken from her.

Neither sister’s expectations are met when they’re finally reunited. But as the two sisters engage in the fiercest battles of their lives, they are at last drawn together despite their differences, restoring belief in the unshakable bond of family.

About the author
Eileen Goudge is a New York City-based bestselling with over 4 million copies in print. She is the author of The Diary, Domestic Affairs, Woman in Red, One Last Dance, Garden of Lies and Thorns of Truth. Check out her Facebook page HERE.

I really enjoyed reading this book and it was a super fast read. It only took me a couple days to finish this one up, as it was too good to put down! I loved the way the author makes you feel attached to all the characters, this book read like I was watching a movie, a page-turner I simply could not put down. The story is compelling and the characters are heartwarming, especially the sisters and Miss Honi. And you won’t be disappointed in the ending either (no worries, no spoilers here). With cold weather approaching, this is the perfect book to cuddle up on the couch with a nice cup of hot tea.

Once in a Blue Moon is available on Amazon HERE.

Disclaimer: I was contacted by One2One Network to do this review. While I was not compensated for this, I did receive a copy of the book in order to do the review.

“Rock of Ages” Original Broadway Cast Cd Review

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

August 10, 2009 by Fritzie

Description: New Line Records just released Original Broadway Cast Recording of five-time Tony Award nominated “Rock of Ages.” Rock of Ages is the Broadway musical starring American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis (he is such a cutie). Set in 1987 in a legendary Sunset Strip rock club, a small-town girl meets a big-city dreamer and they fall in love to the greatest metal songs of the 80’s. The musical is an arena-rock love story told through the classic 80s hits of Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx, Reo Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Foreigner, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake and more.

Review: I was born in the 1970’s, so I was a teen during the later part of the 80’s. This album brings back of flood of memories of a decade of excesses, ratted-out hair, big makeup, crazy bright clothes, all those hair bands and that raucous rockin’ music. This was a fun, energetic album and it was great fun to hear these songs along with it’s endearing storyline of love conquering all. The song “I Wanna Rock” and Constanine’s voice was a standout for me and I would love to see this broadway show live. I did get to see a segment of Rock of Ages on this year’s Tony Awards back in June and it was great fun (except for the last part where Poison’s Bret Michaels got hurt by part of the scenery as he was leaving the stage after his high-energy performance). Anyway, overall, I really enjoyed hearing this album and would highly recommend it for your listening pleasure. It would be especially fun to listen & sing along to on a road trip. I Wanna Rock!

You can purchase “Rock of Ages” HERE.

Just Like Paradise / Nothin’ But A Good Time
