My Aldi Shopping Trip Today (Loving the Markdowns!)

September 28, 2012 by Fritzie

So, I headed to Aldi late morning-ish today to pick up a few essentials. I was already totally stocked up fresh produce from my last 2 trips, so I just grabbed a few staples. I was surprised how wiped out they were today, I guess they hadn’t had a chance to replenish their shelves. I shouldn’t be surprised though, I know being the only Aldi in Joplin, they get a TON of traffic, so keeping the shelves full must be challenging. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my coupons and continue to use them at other stores, but Aldi still remains one of my favorite places to grocery shop.

Anyway, I didn’t get everything on my list, but was happy to find markdowns in the meat department again, woot! I also noticed they had quite a few non-food items on clearance towards the front of the store at checkout and also had several markdowns throughout the store. They had 4-packs of canned sparkling juice marked down to $1.25 which was tempting, but I passed this time. Anyway, here’s what I ended up with on my Aldi shopping trip today:

  • 2 packs of Chicken of Chicken Thighs (about 4 lbs. ea.), both had $2.00 off coupons, so each pack was $2.69 & $2.39 after the discounts, so worked out as a great deal!
  • Gallon Skim Milk – $2.81
  • Saltine Crackers (16 oz.) – $0.89
  • Benton’s Fig Bar Cookies (13 oz.) – $0.99
  • Canned Whole Tomatoes (28 oz.) – $0.99
  • Tomato Paste (6 oz.) – $0.39
  • Potato Chips (10.5 oz.) – $1.49
  • Hot Dog Buns (8 ct.) – $0.89
  • Honey Wheat Bread (24 oz.) – $1.29
  • Cheese Singles (16 ct.) – $0.99
  • Taco Seasoning – $0.35 (I seriously need to start making my own taco seasoning as much as we go through it around here!)
  • Pinto Beans (29 oz.) – $1.19
  • Final Cost $18.11

So after my Price Cutter Shopping trip, I headed to Aldi to stock up on fresh veggies especially since they had so many crazy good deals this week ! I was able to pick up everything on my list except for the red potatoes, they just didn’t look all that appealing, so I passed this time around. Everything else looked great though so I’ll have plenty of fresh veggies to use this coming week. 🙂

  • 2 Cauliflower – $0.79 ea.
  • 2 packages of Broccoli Crowns (16 oz.) – $0.79 ea.
  • A Huge head of Cauliflower – $0.79
  • 2 Baby Carrots (16 oz.) – $0.59 ea.
  • 2 Bags of Yellow Onions (3 lb. bags) – $0.79 ea.
  • Skim Milk (gallon) – $2.81
  • German Pumpernickel Bread – $1.79 (I was absolutely intrigued by this bread, I couldn’t decide if it was going to be really wonderful or absolutely disgusting, so I had to give it a try. I’m game, I’ll try just about any food once. LOL)
  • Honey Wheat Bread (24 oz.) – $1.29
  • Iodized Table Salt – $0.35
  • Pinto Beans (big can) – $1.19
  • Final Cost $14.61

My Aldi Shopping Trip (Great Markdown on Chicken!)

August 5, 2012 by Fritzie

I just got back from My Aldi Shopping Trip today and I was happy to stumble across a markdown sale on chicken. I know what we’re having for supper tonight! 😉 I also picked up a couple of great buys in the produce department. I stopped in at Food4Less afterwards and picked up a bag of potatoes. The price was right at $2.48 for a 15 pound bag, but I was disappointed when I got home, several of the potatoes from Food4Less in the bag were moldy, so I had to throw several out, so not such a hot deal after all. 🙁 Oh well, back to my Aldi trip and my great deals from there:

  • 3 packs of Chicken Thighs, $0.99 lb. All of them had $2.00 Off Stickers on them, so basically half off ($2.03, $2.41, $2.28)
  • Green Bell Peppers (3 ct.) – $1.29
  • Baby Carrots (16 oz.) – $0.49
  • Imperial Quarters (1 lb.) – $0.79
  • Country Creamery Margarine (45 oz.) – $1.99
  • Baked Beans (28 oz.) – $1.19
  • Skim Milk (gallon) – $2.56
  • Wheat Bread (20 oz.) – $0.99
  • Hot Dog Buns – $0.79
  • Cheese Crackers – $0.99
  • Chocolate Bar (7.25 oz.) – $1.49
  • Corn Chips – $0.99
  • Salsa – $1.69
  • Tomato Paste – $0.39
  • Taco Seasoning – $0.35
  • Spaghetti (32 oz.) – $1.69
  • Water (24 pk.) – $2.29
  • Final Cost $27.98

So, when I got done with my Walmart shopping trip, I packed all the perishables in my cooler in my car and ran to the nearby Aldi to finish my shopping for the week & got my Aldi Shopping trip done in a flash. It was pretty busy there already but I was able to find everything, get what I needed and get out of the store pretty quickly. A couple things I really like about Aldi (among many other things) is that its a smaller store, so it doesn’t take as much time to get from one end of the store to the other and the cashiers there are always lightning fast, which I absolutely love! Anyway, here’s what I picked up this week:

  • Skim Milk (gallon) – $2.56
  • 24 pk. Water – $2.29
  • Sundae Shoppe Junior Pops (24 ct.) – $1.99
  • 2 Bologna (16 oz.) – $0.99 ea,
  • Parkview Jumbo Hot Dogs (16 oz.) – $0.99
  • 3 Beef & Cheese Burritos – $0.35 ea.
  • Cheese & Peanut Butter Crackers – $0.99
  • Wheat Bread (24 oz.) – $0.99
  • 2 Wheat Hot Dog Buns (8 ct.) – Marked down to $0.49 ea.
  • Final Cost $14.49
