So I ran to a few stores earlier this week in Joplin to use some expiring coupons and I stopped in at Dollar Tree to see what deals I could find. I have to say I was really disappointed in the selection and this is nothing new. I’ve stopped in at our Dollar Tree numerous times since it relocated to the old Deals store after the tornado and the selection has just not been what it has been in the past at their previous location. Even before they started accepting coupons back in August, our Dollar Tree here in Joplin has just had a pretty sparse selection. I’ve asked the manager about the lack of stock and her response was that they have no control over what stock Dollar Tree sends them. In the meantime, there continues to be a lot of empty holes in the shelves each time I’ve gone there to shop. And in some cases, entire shelves have even been almost empty (as pictured below):
I can’t say that I would blame the Dollar Tree entirely for the lack of stock at this store. For one thing, we have a major shortage of any kind of dollar stores here in Joplin, so this single location is very popular and gets really heavy traffic as a result. As I was driving around Joplin running my errands, I started thinking about dollar stores that had been here in the past and how all of them were now gone. 🙁 I’m not talking about just the Dollar Tree chain, but ANY dollar stores (stores where everything is priced at $1.00). So, as a result, the demand is extremely high for the one lonely single location that Joplin does have. I’ve emailed Dollar Tree a couple times and have not gotten much of a response. I would think that the Dollar Tree would want to know how they could improve their store, I know they sure would sell a heck of a lot more if they had more in stock! 😉
Anyway, sorry to be so long-winded, but it’s something I’ve thought about every time I go to our local Dollar Tree, so I just wanted to offer my two cents, whatever that’s worth. Ha! 😉 I did email Dollar Tree again today in detail about the lack of stock, hopefully they’ll take the time to consider the information & reply this time. So, my experience had me wondering if others have had this experience in other cities & locations. Have you run into lack of stock at your local Dollar Tree stores? I would love to hear about it if you have.

Here’s a coupon available to print for $1.00 off any two boxes or 1 multipack of Scotties Facial Tissue. If you don’t see it, use zipcode 12345. Select the “Local Coupons” tab at the top of the page, input the zipcode, click on the arrow next to the zipcode field, then go back to the “Coupons” tab. Handy Tip: Once you input the zipcode, click on the link again & the coupon will appear at the top of the page. I noticed the last time I was at at local Dollar Tree that they carry these, so just $0.50 after the coupon! Online the coupon shows a Walmart logo, but it prints without any logo or any wording about Walmart of any kind.

Wow, next time you’re at Dollar Tree, you’ll definitely want to keep an eye out for this deal! Most Dollar Tree stores carry the smaller bags of Betty Crocker Cookie Mix, but apparently, some are starting to carry the bigger bags as well that works with coupons currently available!

This one doesn’t have any size restrictions on it and Alka-Seltzer products have been spotted at some Dollar Tree locations, so with Dollar Tree now accepting coupons since last month, possibly FREE Alka-seltzer after the coupon!

As many of you know, Dollar Tree now accepts coupons and the last time I went to Dollar Tree, I noticed that they carry Solo products (my store had bowls, plates & cups), so $0.50 each after the coupon!
Since today was the first day Dollar Tree started accepting coupons, I stopped in to check it out for myself. The store was pretty wiped out of stock, but I still noticed several deals when I took a look around and I took a whole bunch of pictures which I’ll be posting along with coupon matchups tomorrow. I didn’t buy a whole lot, I just kind of wanted to see how familiar the cashiers were with the coupons at this point. I also snagged a few Kansas City Star Newspapers since they’re only $1.00 there and the Star was WAY more coupons in it than the Globe. When I checked out, I told the cashier I had coupons and I kid you not, she said “Oh No!” and had this look of just utter horror on her face. She put the few through that I had and called another cashier over and said “These coupons are all for $1.00, can I accept these since it will make the products free?” The other cashier said, yes it was fine that the items were free after the coupons as long as they met the requirements noted on the coupons (size, etc.), they just couldn’t take any Free product coupons where an amount had to be written on the coupon.
I’m mentioning this, because there will be a learning curve for everyone on this new coupon policy and some Dollar Tree employees will simply have a better grasp or more knowledge of the coupon policy than others. Especially since this is brand new for everyone, I highly encourage you to print the coupon policy and take it along with you so you’ll have it with you when you need it. So, anyway, here was my Dollar Tree Shopping trip today:
