My Price Cutter Deal 6/22

Ok, small rant here. If ever have problems shopping, it’s almost always at Price Cutter. They often have prices come up wrong in the register and then it takes time to get the right price so this is always a hassle. I’ve come to expect it when I shop there. They could take a lesson from my favorite store Dillons. Dillons’ store policy is if the price comes up wrong at the register, then you get the item FREE! Isn’t that awesome! Yet another reason for me to LOVE my Dillons (and no I don’t work there or know anyone who does, I just love them that much lol). Anyway, another problem I have with Price Cutter is their Coupon policy, if the coupon doesn’t scan, they won’t take it, period. I had a coupon from Hiland’s web site they wouldn’t accept today because it wouldn’t scan. Bummer, I understand that they are wary of counterfeit coupons, but can’t they just make it a judgment call? Do they really think someone is going to counterfeit $.55 coupons from Hiland-I don’t think so! Now, on the plus side, Price Cutter just added Black Angus to their meat section and the line is priced very reasonably, that reason alone brings me back to the store. Also, they mark down their meats and produce so you can get really great prices like I did today. And, they double coupons up to $.50.

My deal today:
Strawberries 1 lb. $.99
Head of Lettuce $.99 (came up $1.50 at the register-sighhhhh)
Red Bell Pepper $.89
Farmland Polish Sausage $1.50, used $1.00 Q
Farmland Jumbo Hot Dogs $.99, used $1.00 Q
Tyson Chicken Legs a but under 2 lbs. Marked down to $.69 lb=$1.21
Sirloin Roast Marked Down to $.98 lb.=$.98
Black Angus T-Bone Steak (couldn’t resist-Yum!) $4.14
Eggs-Medium 1 dz $.69
Final Cost $10.90

I love my Dillons, it has a lot of great deals, but I got bad news today from them. They told me they were not going to be carrying Turkey Hill Teas anymore. Talk about heartbreak! I LOVE my Turkey Hill Tea, especially the Diet White Tea and they are the only store in my area that carries them! I plan to talk beg to the manager and plead my case and see if there’s any way they might change their minds. Don’t be afraid to voice your opinion and ask for something. It’s ok! Businesses want your feedback so they know what they are doing well and how they can improve. Anyway, here’s my deal:

2 Turkey Hill Teas Half Gallon (1 regular, 1 raspberry) On Sale $1.00 ea, used $1.00/2 Q, $.50 ea (This is one item I would gladly pay full price for though without a coupon, it is that good!)
2 Honeysuckle 5 packs Turkey Bratwursts, marked down to $2.19
Hunt Ketchup 24oz. $1.89, used FREE coupon from the mail-in booklet
Final Cost with Tax: $5.77

I liked Aldi’s for mostly their produce. They usually have prices you can’t beat on produce and every so often, the prices are outstanding! Keep in mind Aldi’s doesn’t take coupons, so you can leave your coupon organizer behind for this trip. My deal today:

1 Gallon 2% Milk $2.26
2 packages of Portabella Mushrooms $1.19 ea
2 4-packs of Tomatoes $.69 ea
Total with Tax $5.05

Portabella’s are awesome on the grill, just a splash of olive oil and some seasonings and you’re set!

I took one of the portabella’s when I got home and sauteed it with the spinach I got marked down yesterday along with a red onion and some dried sage from my mother’s garden and a little pepper, let me tell you that is a great combination!
