My Food4Less Shopping Trip (Can’t Beat that price for Potato Salad!)

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

July 5, 2012 by Fritzie

So, after my Aldi and Walgreens shopping trips, I headed on over to Food4Less to pick up a few last items. And that reminds me, when you’re out & about running errands and shop at more than 1 store, how do you go about keeping your perishable items cool? In the hot summer months, I have a cooler in my car. Earlier this year, I received a perishable food order shipment & it came packed with 2 reusable ice packs and these 2 packs keep my cooler and its contents cool for a long time, I love it! Actually, I like these cold packs even better than the food shipment they originally came with. LOL

So, anyway, on to Food4Less. Even though Food4Less is very close by to me, I don’t shop there very frequently. For me, shopping there has been very much hit or miss. Some trips I’ll find a bunch of bargains and then other times, I won’t find a thing. I’ve noticed that a lot of their products are just not that great a deal & are in fact higher than other stores in some cases. I do like their produce department though, I have found some nice deals there many times in the past including some great markdowns! And what they really seem to excel at are limited one-time deep discounted deals. Some are advertised, most are not. If you’ve shopped at Food4Less too, what did you think? Lots of bargains or not? Do you find it worth the time to stop in regularly to hunt for those unadvertised bargains? I stopped for one of their advertised deals this week (the Reser’s Deli Salad) and here’s what else I picked up:

  • 2 Reser’s Potato Salad (3 lbs. ea.) – $1.88, Used 2 $1.00/1 Reser’s coupons
  • Seedless Watermelon – $3.96
  • Radishes – $1.18
  • Cabbage – $1.08
  • Lettuce – $1.18
  • Roma Tomatoes – $0.78
  • 2 Mt. Olive Sliced Pepperorcinis – $0.88 ea., Used 2 $0.75/1 Mt. Olive 6/24 SS insert
  • Shasta Diet Cola (2 liter) – $0.88
  • Final Cost $15.31

My Aldi Shopping Trip (Wow, that was easy!)

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

July 5, 2012 by Fritzie

So, while I was out & about Tuesday,  I ran into Aldi to grab a few things and I have to say again how easy it is to shop there! Don’t get me wrong, I love shopping at other stores too and picking up awesome deals with coupons.  You can spend as little or as much time as you want with coupons and still come out on the other end saving money, so for me,  it’s truly a blessing to be able to utilize coupons!  But, having said that, you cannot beat the convenience & simplicity of shopping at an Aldi. The stores are smaller, parking is a snap, the cashiers are lightning fast. Just remember to bring your own shopping totes and leave the coupons behind since Aldi doesn’t take coupons. As much as I LOVE coupons (and boy, do I love them!), it is nice to have one store where I can leave my big red binder behind, you know what I mean?! Oh and btw, I just wanted to mention that we do not buy that many snacks for ourselves, John always picks up extra snacks for his mom & stepdad. They just don’t get up to Joplin anymore, so they always have certain items that we pick up for them whenever we shop at Aldi. And they are especially seriously addicted to the Puffed Corn, our Aldi doesn’t stock them all the time and when they do carry them we have to pick up at LEAST 4 bags for them so that they’ll last until the next time they’re in stock again. LOL Anyway, onto my shopping trip. 🙂

  • Skim Milk (gallon) – $2.69
  • Corn Chips, Big Dipper – $1.19
  • 5 Puffed Corns – $1.29 ea.
  • Jumbo Franks (16 oz.) – $0.99
  • Starlite Mints (16 oz.) – $0.99
  • Chicken Thighs – $0.99 lb., $4.46
  • Hot Dog Buns (8 ct.) – $0.79
  • Saltines (16 oz.) – $0.89
  • Split Top Wheat Bread (20 oz.) – $0.99
  • 2 Purified Water (24 pk. bottles) – $2.29 ea. (one not pictured)
  • 2 Cheese Crackers & Peanut Butter (8 pk.) – $0.99 ea.
  • Final Cost $27.25

Oh and I will definitely be heading back to Aldi in the next few days, because they have some AWESOME produce deals this week!

My Walgreens Shopping Trip (Ready for Breakfast Now!)

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

July 5, 2012 by Fritzie

I haven’t gone to Walgreens in awhile, I just have not been too motivated to get out a whole lot in this unrelenting heat. Tuesday morning, it actually rained very (and I do mean very) briefly and it stayed cloudy and just a little bit cooler, so I took advantage of the break in sweltering hot weather to run a few errands. I’m lucky enough to have a Walgreens pretty close to my house, so I stopped in there while I was out. I was pleasantly surprised to find everything I was looking for, which was great on a Tuesday. I was especially excited about the cheap Hershey’s Simple Pleasures Candy because I was able to put together a very nice goodie gift basket with the candy along with some other great deals I had picked up here and there and it made for a very nice birthday present!  One of the many things I love about Walgreens is the fact that they offer Rain Checks which never expire. While this doesn’t help with the Register Reward deals if they’re out of stock, it helps tremendously with the sale items like the Butterball Bacon or eggs (breakfast, anyone?!) 😉 for example.  At least that way, it’s never a wasted trip if I don’t find what I’m looking for.  I split up my purchases into 2 transactions to minimize my out of pocket expense:

Transaction #1:

  • 2 Mitchum Smart Solid Deodorant – 2/$6.00, Used 2 $1.00/1 coupons, got $4.00 RR
  • Final Cost $4.31 and got back $4.00 Register Reward

Transaction #2:

  • Butterball Turkey Bacon (6 oz.) – $0.99, Used $0.55/1 6/24 SS insert
  • Dozen Eggs – $0.99
  • 2 Hershey’s Simple Pleasures Candy – 2/$6.00, Used 2 $1.00/1 coupons (declare independence & submit to print coupon) & $1.50/1 Walgreens store coupon from the July Monthly Coupon Booklet
  • 3 Diet 7Up (2 liter) – $0.88
  • Used $4.00 RR from previous transaction
  • Final Cost $1.12

And be sure and check out the rest of this week’s Walgreens Deals along with coupon matchups, there’s quite a few nice buys this week!
