CLOSED-Softlips Lip Balm Limited Edition Holiday Gift Guide & Giveaway

I was given the chance to try out Softlips Holiday Limited Edition Lip Conditioner Balms. There are 4 winter flavors, 2 brand new:

  • New in 2009! Sugar & Spice
  • New in 2009! Sugar Plum Berry
  • Winter Mint
  • Sugar Cookie

These are priced at around $2.99-$3.99 for the dual-stick pack. Perfect as a stocking stuffer or gift to yourself (and the price is right!), the seasonal flavors help protect lips from the sun with SPF20 and have the same great moisturizing properties as Softlips’ other popular flavors. Now through out the holiday/winter season, the limited addition flavors Sugar & Spice and Sugar Plum Berry will be available in Target and Winter Mint and Sugar Cookie will be available at Walgreens (two of my favorite stores as my regular readers will know ;) ). Check out Softlips’ Facebook page & fan them HERE.

I’m pretty picky about my lip balms, I use them all the time. I hadn’t tried Softlips before and I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the way it moisturized and it lasted a long time, longer than the lip balm I had currently been using. I really like the Holiday flavors and what I really liked about them is that the scents aren’t in your face. To me there’s nothing more nauseating than some overly gooey, sickly heavily-scented lip balm. Like I really want to go around smelling my lips all day Lol. These all had a nice light scent, not overpowering at all. I liked them all, but my favorites were a toss-up between the new Sugar Plum and the Winter Mint.

Now for the fun part! One lucky winner will win a set of the new Softlips Limited Edition Winter Flavors.

CLOSED-Anti Monkey Butt Powder Holiday Gift Guide & Giveaway

I was given the chance to try a great new product called “Anti Monkey Butt Powder”.  So what the heck is it, you ask?!?! Anti Monkey Butt Powder is specially formulated to absorb excess sweat and reduce frictional skin irritation. Unlike other powders, Anti-Monkey Butt has calamine and talc which gives it a cooling sensation instead of the burning that you might get from other products. Ideal for truck driving, motorcycling, bicycling, horse back riding, and extreme sports. And now there’s also “Lady Anti Monkey Butt Powder”, it is very similar to the original, it’s made with calamine and cornstarch for a smoother feel. Perfect for frictional discomfort that women often experience when using exercise equipment, running, driving, cycling, bra straps/cleavage perspiration or just walking for endless hours in the mall doing your holiday shopping! I gave it a go and did find it worked really great with exercising, and it was soothing, a nice soft feel instead of that irritating rubbing. I love the idea of these as stocking stuffers, it’s really a fun gift to throw in the stocking & it works too! Check out their products in their online store HERE (they’ve got some really fun apparel too) and you can find Anti Monkey Butt Powder at a variety of retail locations, including Walmart, check out where else they are sold HERE.

Another thing I love about Anti Monkey Butt is they don’t take themselves too seriously, and to me, they are so different than the usual ho-hum products you see. Be sure to check out their Santa video and they’ve got 3 more equally funny videos on their site, especially “Biker” & “Jogger” HERE. Those both just cracked me up!

And here’s a great thing they do! Anti Monkey Butt Powder takes part in a program with Operation ShoeBox and will be shipping 2,000 full size products to the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. Personally, I think that’s pretty awesome. Be sure to check out their Facebook page and fan them HERE, they’ve already got over 14,000 fans!

Now for the fun part! One lucky winner will win 2 bottles, One Lady Anti Monkey Butt and One Anti Monkey Butt Original.

CLOSED-Sound of Music 50th Anniversary Special Edition Original Cast Recording & Pop-Up Book Review & Giveaway

Saturday, 28 November 2009, 14:03 | Category : Christmas Deals/Holiday Gift Guide, My Giveaways & Reviews

I was given the opportunity to review Sony Music’s recently released “50th Anniversary Special Edition of the Original Cast Recording: The Sound Of Music” and Simon & Schuster’s The Sound of Music: A Classic Collectible Pop-Up.

My Favorite Things (my personal favorite), Do-Re-Mi and The Sound of Music are all songs that we grew up with. The Sound of Music first opened on Broadway 50 years ago and quickly became one of the most popular and enduring musicals of all time.  I was delighted to review this because I just love the Sound of Music, it is such a classic story. I even “Story of the Von Trapp Family Singers” book I loved it so much. I thought the Cast Recording was just gorgeous & lush. The sound quality was excellent and a lot better than I thought it would be. The LOVED the Pop-Up book, it is just spectacular with it’s artistry and design and it follows the Broadway version of the Sound of Music perfectly. The Hills really DO come alive in this extraordinary Pop-up. This was Adapted by Bert Fink and Illustrated by Dan Andreasen, they really outdid themselves on this one! This Cast Recording and Pop up Book are both great ways for you to spend time with your kids and help them with their reading skills at the same time. My mother read to me and with me all the time when I was growing up and I know that really helped my skills later in life. Check out this cool Sing-Along guide HERE from Simon & Schuster, it goes along with the book to encourage your child to follow the story with you. This guide is really great idea and enhances the whole Sound of Music experience even more!

More Information:
“While a larger audience came to know The Sound of Music six years later, when the Oscar-winning film version starring Julie Andrews was released, the musical became a major hit of the 1959-1960 season, sharing (with Fiorello!) that spring the Tony Award for Best Musical. It ran 1,443 performances on Broadway, toured the U.S. for several seasons and became an even longer-running hit in London when the first British production (1961) ran twice as long as its Broadway counterpart. It continues to be one of the most popular and enduring musicals of all time.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Broadway premiere of The Sound of Music, Masterworks Broadway has restored the original cast recording in a new edition that features three unusual bonus tracks, extensive liner notes about the show’s history by Bert Fink of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, and rarely seen photos of the recording sessions, held November 22, 1959, in Columbia Records’ celebrated 30th Street Studios.

In addition to the original cast recording, the three bonus tracks on the 50th anniversary edition are:

* “From Switzerland: The Pratt Family,” a spoof of The Sound of Music created for and performed by Julie Andrews and Carol Burnett in 1962 on their TV special Julie and Carol Live at Carnegie Hall;
* A live recording of “Edelweiss,” sung in German, from the historic first production (2005) of The Sound of Music in Vienna;
* A soaring cover version of “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” sung in Swedish (as “Sök dig till bergen”) by Tommy Körberg, best known to American audiences for his vocals on the concept album of Chess.

The Sound of Music: A Classic Collectible Pop Up-More Information & Order on Amazon HERE (there’s a video that really shows off how cool this book is).
