Closed! Green Giant Seeds of Change Prize Pack Earth Day Giveaway

The 40th anniversary of Earth Day is right around the corner on April 22nd and for Green Giant, it’s all about trying to live up to the name by working every day to care for the land, the people who grow our vegetables and the families who share our vegetables at their tables. Throughout its century-long history, Green Giant has worked to reduce its environmental footprint through many measures including:
- Reducing the amount of land and water needed to grow vegetables
- Packing vegetables in smaller, lighter cans, so it takes less fuel to deliver them to supermarket shelves
- Utilizing traditional seed breeding methods over the last 35 years to double the amount of sweet corn grown on an acre of land
- Teaming up with growers to install a more efficient irrigation system that can reduce water use by more than a million gallons a year;
- Switching to more earth-friendly paperboard to package frozen vegetables, saving approximately 54,000 trees annually in the process.
Green Giant is now celebrating the 40th anniversary of Earth Day by giving $200,000 to The Nature Conservancy to help fund an innovative project that will encourage greener farming practices to repair and protect a natural treasure – the Root River, one of Minnesota´s (home to Green Giant) best trout streams. Learn more about Green Giant´s sustainability program or make a donation to The Nature Conservancy, visit HERE during the month of April.
Personally, I didn’t realize that Green Giant took all these “green” steps and I think that’s great. I’ve always loved Green Giant products and this makes me like them all the more. And I love that they are making such a generous donation to The Nature Conservancy, they are such a worthy cause, I’ve donated to them myself several times over the last few years.
Now for the fun part! 1 lucky winner will receive a “Seeds of Change” prize pack that includes one VIP coupon valid for a free package of Green Giant frozen vegetables, in addition to a mini herb garden, an eco-friendly bamboo utensil set, and a 100% recyclable grocery tote (U.S. residents only).

When we move in May into our new place, we’re going to plant a garden for the first time. Also, we’re going to switch to reusable bags, which is why this win would be great for me! It would give me a head start to building up my reusable bag collection, haha!
Steps that we have already made, we have placed a milk jug full of water in our septic tank of the toilet, so that it uses less water to flush.
We have been researching other ways to “go green”. So, I’m looking forward to hear from other people in the comments!

Let’s see…
We cloth diaper our babies.
We line dry when the weather’s right rather than using the dryer.
We harness the power of the sun for our tea.
I keep the lights off during the day and open all the curtains.
When choosing between two methods of cooking, I opt for the one that uses less energy.
Hmmm… there’s more but i can’t think of them all…

We have changed out lightbulbs, purchased energy star appliances, only use air conditioning absolutely necessary. We will be planting a garden this year and hopefully canning enough to last us through the winter. We recycle everything possible, purchase as much “new to us” items through Craigslist, garage sales or thrift stores. We are looking into getting a rain barrel for our flower/veggie gardens. I am always looking for different ways to make our home greener!

We leave less of a carbon footprint by regularly recycling everything possible. We also use CFLs, Energy Star appliances, and reusable shopping bags. We combine driving trips to save mileage — and turn things like lights off when not in use. *Thanks* for the giveaway!

We recycle, started our own garden this year, buy local, and installed an on demand hot water heater. Oh-and most recently we installed a geothermal heating and cooling system. It’s fantastic!!!!! If you don’t have the funds to do that, I would still highly recommend the on demand hot water. It saves a bunch of money and the cost is made much more reasonable with all the tax incentives that are out there right now!!!

We use “green” bags at the grocery store and recycle soda cans, other metals, and drive a motorcycle.
We are looking at a tin roof to save our local landfill from our shingles every ten years. Also, we are a bit skeptical about putting something in our water tank on our toilet….but it seems to work for other folks!
Thanks for the giveaway.

I set up recycle bins in our garage for all the products our local recycling center will take. We used to have to empty our kitchen trash can about once a day, and now we do once a week. We sometimes filled two trash cans for trash day, and now we barely fill one–it’s no big deal if we forget to take out the trash one week!
